The Artist
Lawrence Buttigieg is a practicing architect, artist, and freelance researcher who earned his PhD from Loughborough University in 2014. While widely recognised for his exploration of the female form, Lawrence has produced a significant body of work spanning portraits and landscapes that capture the distinct luminosity of Malta and Gozo.
He is also known for his practice-led research and recent body-themed box-assemblages, which examine concepts of alterity, femininity, and sacrality by challenging traditional male subjectivity in Western art.
